Job description
Machining technician is one of the core professions in the metalworking industry. It requires an understanding of complex drawings and a high level of technical expertise in everything from machine programming to quality assurance.

Training content
Filing, sawing, drilling, tapping, turning, milling and grinding. Alongside these basic skills you will learn to plan and monitor workflows, and gain an understanding of technical drawings and other information typical for the job

Prospects
Advanced vocational training opens up opportunities for promotion. After completing your apprenticeship you could go on to take machining technician or master craftsperson examinations.

Job description
Metal technology specialists in the field of machining technology use a wide variety of production and machine tools to manufacture precise and complex metal components. To do this, setting up and monitoring the production process is just as important as continuously checking the quality of the end product. Metal technology specialists are an important part of the production team and ensure high output and smooth production processes.

Training content
During your training, you will learn the basic skills of metalworking. Building on this, you will learn how to operate production equipment, change tools, carry out tests and, if necessary, correct dimensional deviations in order to manufacture parts with a precise fit. 
Throughout your training, you will deepen and apply the theoretical knowledge you have gained in vocational school with practical skills in the specialist departments.

Prospects
Through diligence and experience, it is possible to learn more complex tasks and advance within the company. In addition, there is the opportunity to become a cutting machine operator after a further 1.5 years of training.

Job description
Mechatronics engineers manufacture complex mechatronic systems and automation equipment from electrical, mechanical and electro-pneumatic components. They commission the finished systems, program them and install the associated software. In doing so, they follow circuit diagrams and design drawings and test the systems before handing them over to the production facilities. Their varied range of activities includes repair and maintenance tasks as well as activities in the field of robotics and process optimisation.

Training content
During your training, you will first learn the basic concepts of electrical and metal engineering. These cover all the fundamental skills in the fields of metalworking, pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics and electrical engineering. You will also become familiar with CNC, PLC and robot programming. You will learn how to create these components according to circuit diagrams or drawings and integrate them into complex systems. We will also show you how to commission and maintain mechatronic systems using the right software. In addition, you will learn how to maintain and commission machines and systems. Throughout your training, you will deepen and apply the theoretical knowledge you have gained in vocational school with practical skills in the specialist departments.

Prospects
Mechatronics engineers must constantly learn new skills in order to keep pace with the constant changes in production technology. Further training to become an industrial foreman, technician or even an engineer opens up considerable opportunities.

Industrial clerks are in demand in all commercial areas. Your job will involve manufacturing planning and control, implementing customer orders, costings, financial accounting, marketing, sales, shipping and much more.

Training content
During your apprenticeship you will learn how to answer important human resources questions, how Accounting compiles all the figures, how Purchasing procures materials, how Production processes it, and how Sales sells the products to customers.

Prospects
After completing your apprenticeship you have a variety of options in terms of professional qualifications you can take, for example Senior Commercial Clerk, Industrial Business Administrator, State-Certified Business Economist or Master of Business Administration.

Keen to gain practical experience but want to study as well? Then Leipold business information systems is the perfect choice. In partnership with Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University’s Villingen-Schwenningen campus, we offer a dual studies (B.Sc.) program in Business Information Systems .

Training location: Wolfach

Training period: 3 years (6 semesters)

Job description
Using computer-based information systems successfully is critical in every area of business and management. Employees who can combine an in-depth knowledge of business administration with IT are in great demand. Business information systems specialists link the business world with innovative technologies.

Training content
Theory stages (studies): Your studies will give you in-depth knowledge of subareas in business administration, such as materials handling, production/logistics, process management, organization, marketing, accounting and controlling.
They also focus on applied IT, covering topics such as programming, systems analysis, operating systems, database systems, computer networks, the internet and multimedia.

Practical stages (on-the-job training): In the practical stages you will apply and deepen your theoretical learning as well as demonstrating practical solutions. Another important goal is to learn and apply decision-making skills. This begins by getting to know the company and by working in selected departments, joining the IT department and taking on small projects. Your final task will be to develop an independent solution to an operational problem.

Graduation
At the end of your three-year study program you will graduate with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.).
